Once again I love Beth's idea of having the kids read a longer story and the class will have to stay tuned ...... Unfortunately, many of my kids are not reading.... Any ideas on how those students could make use of podcasting? I would love to have my readers each chose a book, record it using Audacity then play it for the class. I think this would really encourage those students who don't have a geniune interest in reading to start READING. What's better than a little peer pressure :o) ?
We could also use this to do some type of group project like we did in class the other night!

I love the idea of letting your readers record a book. That could be a big motivator for others to really give it a try. They would all probably like to hear one of their classmates read a story.
ReplyDeleteI like that idea as well. It might motivate others to try and read.
ReplyDeleteyou might even have the ones that cannot read write some sentences about their favorite animal, food, etc. This way, they all have the opportunity to record themselves in some way.
You could also record you and the students that cannot read. Maybe you can read a sentence and the student reads it back to you. That way, they will get to hear how it is suppose to sound and hear how they sound.
Sounds like some great ideas here. What I really enjoyed about making the podcasts was the ability to add background sound. I thought that was so cool! Now if I thought that was cool, imagine what our kindergarteners would think!
