Digital Videos
I love Beth's idea of videoing the students doing a Reader's Theatre. They love watching themselves no matter what they are doing. I really enjoyed watching Kate's video she did with her class on matter. Maybe I could video them and we could watch it to see exactly what they are not suppose to be doing during the day... talking out of turn, talking while others are talking including their teachers, not following directions, not listening and see if we can improve their behavior. Just and idea.... Any others for kindergarten ?

Too funny....Maybe you should try that. Then they can see how they are not ready to come to my classroom next year. You only have 3 months to whip them into shape!
ReplyDeleteNow that is an interesting twist! Never thought of going that direction...the possibilities are endless (could be used for parent conferences...);)
ReplyDeleteYou are so right, that the students LOVE to watch themselves! I think another option would be for collaborative groups-presenting a piece they made as a group. I do a recycling unit that includes having the students work in small groups to make a playground using recyclable items. Kids love this and we could tape their presentations and put on our webpage.
Virginia, I think staging them not following the rules is a great idea! You can even link it to the book "David at School" from the "No David" series. We use that one every year when we write our classroom rules. Let me know if you do it because I definitely want to see it!!
ReplyDeleteYeah, wouldn't they be surprised! That is an interesting idea. What about a math video where the children could show addition problems or patterns and they could speed it up, slow it down, add music, etc. It would be something that could just get them used to using digital video.
