This is new for me....
This blog stuff is new to me as far as creating my own. It seems similar to Facebook and Myspace however I do not do either of those. Never really had an interest or need to do them. All of my friends do. I feel weird about posting stuff about myself online. Maybe after this course I'll change my mind :o) I am also not sure how I could use this in my kindergarten class. I could use it for parent communication??? Not sure exactly in what forum I could use it with the parents but may be able to think of something. I also am not sure how I could use this with my kindergarteners. Maybe with some of them who are reading ???

I also had the realization that facebook is just blogging. I am also struggling to figure out how to fit this tool in with first grade. I guess we will find out...
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping that after you read the blog chapters in Richardson, you'll have a better idea about what a blog is. Blogs are quite different than social networking tools. And the features offered in blogs have many valuable uses in promoting thinking in our classrooms.
ReplyDeleteI am also not so sure how I feel about posting information about myself online! I recently started a Facebook account, but I have not done much with it. The most important thing I gained from the first Richardson chapter is the fact that education is changing and we need to change with it. I think many of our students know more and do more with the Web than we do. There was an interesting clip on the Today Show this morning about the need for parents to be active on the accounts their children are using. I am learning this is probably also true of educators. Boy I have a lot to learn!
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you Virginia!! I feel strange posting things about myself online. As professionals we've always sort of been steered away from that. I'm still trying to figure out how I'd use this in my classroom hhmmm.
ReplyDeleteHow could my kindergarteners make use of a blog ? Some of them are still learning to idenitfy the letters of the alphabet therefore I don't think they would actually be able to type anything. Maybe I could use this as an enrichment activity for my students who are reading? I think either way I would need some volunteers. What about having those students read a book and we could blog about it ?
